Stay True to your Principles
Anyone who refuses to obey will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.” But there are some Jews—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—whom you have put in charge of the province of Babylon. They pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the gold statue you have set up.” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
Daniel 3:6, 12-12, 16-18 NLT
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego went through one of the toughest test of their spiritual life and principle. They believed in God and had pledge to serve only him even if that will lead to or cause their death. The king had already been very generous to them by appointing them to high ranking positions in the society, they knew that failing to obey the king could cost them their jobs and worst still the new rule was out; will be thrown into a burning furnace.
Amazingly, these three stood up to the king. They refused to defy their principle and belief in God. This made them to boldly say that even if God does not rescue them, they will rather die than bow to the gold statue as it was not scriptural for them (remember they knew the ten commandments and always lived by them). God never came to their rescue immediately but when they were already in the burning furnace, God met them there and got them out without any harm or even smoke touching them.
This might have happened thousands of years back, but it is still real today. Everyday our principles and belief in God are tested be they through our relationships, our businesses or jobs and our actions. Sometimes we might be quick to react and abandon our principles for fear of prosecution or rejection, but Know this, God can never abandon you and all that He said he will do, he will always do much more. All you need to do is stay true to your Principles and this will become possible.
